The charity was set up in 1976 following a bequest from Frederick Edmund Guntrip to be used ‘for the benefit of elderly residents’ - see the History section for more information about Frederick.

The original Trustees invested Frederick’s bequest to provide growth and dividends with the dividends being paid to beneficiaries. The Trustees defined beneficiaries as being 70 years or older and living in the Parish of Stoke Goldington, that payments should be based on the length of time they have lived in the Parish, and that there should be two payments, Spring and Christmas. In 1977 there were 46 parishioners who benefitted from the charity, 85 in 2018 and 71 today. See the Contacts and registration page for how to register.

The charity is currently administered by five Trustees. There would normally be six but with the retirement of the Reverend Christa Pumphrey, and the interim tenure of Reverend Adrian Low, we are waiting for Christa’s full time replacement to join us.
