Investments
The original bequest from Frederick, of just under £40,000, was invested with two specialist charity investment funds: Black Rock and M&G Investments. Recent advice from a financial advisor confirmed that M&G had performed very well over the years but Black Rock had consistently performed less well. The advice was also that there was really no need for two different funds as the M&G fund was diversified in its investment approach. So, towards the end of 2025, the Trustees decided that all investments should be with M&G and the Black Rock account was closed. At the end of 2025 the value of the investment was just over £277,000.
Investments and distributions
Distributions
Two distributions of the dividends are made each year – Spring and Christmas. The Trustees agree the overall value of each distribution and a calculation is then made based on the number of beneficiaries and the time they have lived in the Parish.
As examples:
The Spring 2025 distribution was an average of approx. £91 per beneficiary with a total value of £6,748
The Christmas 2025 distribution was an average of approx. £114 per beneficiary with a total value of £8,088
The Spring 2026 distribution was an average of approx. £125 per beneficiary with a total value of £8,897
In Spring 2026 there were two beneficiaries who have lived in the village for 82 years!
In addition to the twice yearly distributions a funeral grant of £250 is available to the spouse or partner of a beneficiary in the event of their death.
Payments are made by bank transfer directly into beneficiaries' bank accounts or by cheque.

Current dividends are worth approx. £15,000 per year but this can vary with the performance of the investment. The charity also holds a small balance in its bank account to accommodate unexpected expenditure, fluctuations in dividends, and to reduce bank charges.
